You are bidding on a very rare 1973 Checker Aerobus, 8-door, 12 passenger, airport limo from yesteryear.  As much as it pains me to part with this car and put it on the auction block,  I have no choice.  I am in the process of selling my house and with it the oversized garage that houses this wonderful vehicle.  Indoor storage is too expensive for me here in California so my loss is your gain.  Let me start out by saying that this vehicle can be driven cross country with confidence.  I have driven it through snow storms in Colorado, all kinds of weather in Utah, the heat of Nevada, and all around California and never had one problem.

It has a rebuilt GM 350 engine that was installed at the 100,000 mile point, which gives it approximately 32,000 miles on the engine and it runs great.  It has a turbo - hydramatic 400 automatic transmission that shifts flawlessly.  From a mechanical perspective the vehicle needs nothing.  The tires are almost new and have less than a 1,000 miles on them.  All of the belts, hoses, fluids and filters have been changed in the last three months.

The interior is quite nice as you can see from the pictures.  The seat coverings are gray cloth with vinyl trim with a couple very small minor tears.  The carpet is in good shape as are the backs of each seat.  The headliner was missing when I got the vehicle so I  improvised with a couple sheets of wood panelling.  All of the glass in place and not cracked.  Some of the door panels have curled up slightly at the bottoms but it doesn't affect the opening and closing of the doors in any way.  There are seat belts for all of your friends.  I just have them tucked down inside the seats when not in use.  All of the gauges on the instrument panel work with the exception of the gas gauge, which is typical for a Checker.  The air conditioning works in the both the front and back of the vehicle but doesn't blow real cold.  I'm sure it just needs a can or two of R-134A.  I run the AC from time to time just to keep the seals lubricated but where I live in California the AC is not needed very often.

The exterior of the Aerobus is finished in a light blue.  I call it my orange peel special.  It has been great for us and our cats who love to sleep on the roof of the car.  I've never had to worry about a scratch or a claw mark because the finish is very durable and has a slight texture to it.  It washes up easy, looks nice, and makes a great daily driver or conversation piece.  I have taken it to car shows and people think it is quite unique.  On the other hand I realize that many people may not care for it.  If you had thoughts of turning the Aerobus into a show car, it would need to be sanded and a quality paint job applied.  The Aerobus spent most of its life out in Colorado so rust was not a problem as with most other Checkers.  The rockers on both sides at the very bottom have been repaired  for rust once upon a time and are holding up well.  There is some rust and paint bubbling in the interior rear luggage area at the roof line.  I have since sealed the exterior roof lip all the way around the car.

I have tried to describe the Aerobus as completely as possible and hopefully have not left anything out.  Please ask questions and I'll do my best to answer any of your concerns.  Someone is going to get a very, very special piece of history and I would really like to see her go to a good home.  Thank you for bidding.
