Here is the 2006 Ebay description for this car:

1971 Checker Aerobus

Here is a vehicle that you don't see very often.  This unusual, 1971 Checker Aerobus, will be recognized by Aerobus officianados as a well-built, reliable and very unusual vehicle built to provide airport limousine service in latter years.

This vehicle was owned by a Shriner's lodge and was proudly driven in many local and remote parades.  These lodge members were planning a trip to New Orleans in the Aerobus when the lodge member that kept the car suddenly passed away. The lodge has reluctantly decided to sell this wonderful symbol of the happy times they spent together riding in this great car.

Mechanically, the car is quite sound.  It started up immediately and rode like a top as I cruised at 65 mph 35 miles from where it was being stored to my home. (Plus, I loved all the honks and waves I got from people as I drove past.)

I was told that there were plans to replace the clutch and have work on the brakes completed (the necessity of both were evident to me when I drove the car).

It has a manual, three-speed on the column and power steering.  Not all the gauges work.  There is some hardware for window roll-downs and rear tailgate and rear window in the car, though not currently attached.  There is a small hole on the floor board underneath the clutch area.  The upholstery on the back of the driver seat and on the second row bench is not in good shape.

An AM/FM Cassette player was added (with free-standing speakers) as well as an alarm.

Some sanding of the left front fender will be necessary when applying new paint.  The car spent the majority of its life in New Mexico so rust isn't a problem.

When I cleaned the interior of the car I found three jacks and two spare tires.  Also, all lap/seat belts are present.
